| AliveWithDance Latest Email Sent Sunday, January 15 2012 @ 8:05pm AliveWithDance/March Birthday Party Hi all. I guess the most important news has
nothing to do with dancing (except in the end zone!) Congratulations
to the Baltimore Ravens.Good luck next Sunday.
I have all the details for the 10th Annual
March Birthday Celebration. The basics are below but you'll find the complete
info on my website http://www.alivewithdance.com/html/events.html
10th Annual March Birthday
Party Celebration
@
"THE GET
DOWN"
Brought to You by Susan Leiter's AliveWithDance Wednesday, February 22 2012 Save the date! Wednesday, February 22 2012 The Get Down 701 South Bond St Baltimore MD 21231 (corner of Bond and Aliceanna Sts) www.GetDownBaltimore.com 443-708-3564 Playing for your sole enjoyment of music and dancing will be none other than DJ Renzo **It's DJ Renzo's birthday in March, too! This night
began with my birthday in 2001. Then I met Mary Ann,
discovered we had back to back birthdays and the party became an even bigger
party. Then, when Dwight came into the mix, it became a March birthday event as
I began discovering there were many who shared birthdays, not only in March, but
in the same week. Now everyone, who's birthday falls in the month of March, gets
in for free. The only requirement is that you bring a valid photo ID to show to
my door person. I learned this the first year I did this as there were lists,
upon lists and still I didn't have everyone's name. The photo ID eliminated a
line at the door and much less stress for the person

Don't forget about the 3rd Annual 2012 Baltimore Salsa
Fest. Added this year is a special Sasla/Bachata Survival Challenge taught by
myself, Dwight Smith, Niss Albaig and Vanessa Beltran-Medina. Check it out!
http://www.baltimoresalsafest.com/. Don't wait to register. It's limited to 40 people and
the spaces are going fast. There's an important
event happening this Saturday in Baltimore It's Ritmo de la Noche hosted by
Salsanow. All the details are my site. Once again, as a writer
of a newsletter, it takes a lot of time to gather event information, surf sites,
and make phone calls to various promoters. Just ask Sue Elliott. I used to do
this all the time, when there were just a couple of promoters. Well, now
everyone has jumped on the band wagon which makes it virtually impossible to
keep up with it all. As a promoter, if you would like your event to reach a
demographic other than facebook, send me the basic information for your event
and I'll get it up on my site. If it gets to me early enough, I'll mention it in
my email. If you're strictly a patron and you see an event you feel is worth
mentioning, get me the same info. We had an unfortunate thing happen this
weekend. Two people in our Salsa community found out about the MoCo Latin and
Salsa Dance Festival, happening today, too late. It was only on FB and I need to
tell you (believe it or not), not everyone is on FB. By the way, there is no
advertising fee for this.
I'd like to
share something with you. I had an interesting experience at La Palapa last
Thursday night. I was standing at the bar getting a bottle of water and a woman
came up to me and complimented me on my dancing. She asked, "How do you it?" To
which I replied, "I just let the music inside my soul and whatever comes out,
does." To which she replied, "Oh, I could never do that." To which I replied,
"Everyone can dance. It's a form of self expression. Some more structured (or
less structured) than others, but everyone can dance. You just do what you feel
inside."
There are two very important quotes spoken by two masters
of dance. The first one, by George Balanchine, the second by Martha Graham.
"Dance is music made visible"........George Balanchine
Once again, let the music inside and let it flow out in
whatever shapes it desires.
"Our arms start from the back because they were once
wings".........Martha Graham
Wings are meant for flight. Let go of your body and let it
fly. Don't forget about your ongoing weekly venues.
Check them out on my website on the GOING OUT
page. ALL SPECIFICS FROM NOW ON (INCLUDING THE CLASS SCHEDULES) WILL BE LISTED ON MY WEBSITE. GO TO THE "LEARN TO
DANCE" PAGE ______________________________________________________________________ This Week's Special Events and New Listings are now listed on my website (www.AliveWithDance.com) at EVENTS. I post them as the promoters send them to me. From now on, all events will be listed for the current month. I update it daily so the posts are current. | ||||
